Summary

Presents 5 different patterns for 'process' interaction. Actually it is really component interaction that is modeled. The implicit assumption here is that each component has it's own thread of execution.

Analysis

These component level interactions turn out to be a very important part of defining architectures. Having a language to discuss and categorize these types of interactions is fundamental to architects. So in a way these do seem like architectural patterns. These patterns also pull in a number of others such as pipes and filters and blackboard.
