A library for low level access to database sources is a fundamental component in the development of enterprise software. There are many good libraries already available for C++ two examples are:

http://soci.sourceforge.net/

http://otl.sourceforge.net/

However boost still does not offer such a solution that is natively integrated with the rest of the framework. Some time ago there a was a proposal for a boostification of SOCI.
